Application FAQ

When can I submit an application to NFPS?

A rolling admissions policy is in place; registrations are accepted on a continual basis as space becomes available. As part of our admissions policy, we would offer wait listing.

What documents are required for an application to NFPS?

The first step is to complete the Student Registration Package. You will also need to submit:

– Current passport size photo of student;

– Copy of birth certificate;

– If the child is not a Canadian citizen, residency documentation (e.g., a parent’s work permit); and

– Final reports from the past two years and any reports from the current year.

What are the entrance requirements?

The criteria for entrance include: (i) a review of school reports from the previous two years and any reports from the current year; (ii) interview, and (iii) availability.

Does NFPS require the SSAT?

NFPS does not require the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) for students entering any grade. Applicants must complete our own school interview.

How many students will NFPS take each year?

For the 2023-24 school year, we will be admitting two classes for Grades 7 to 12. The intake for future years is not guaranteed and will depend on our re-enrolment numbers.

How many students will NFPS have in each class?

We will have maximum 18 students in each class.

Will NFPS enroll students halfway through the academic year?

We will be able to enroll students once the academic year has started on a case-by-case basis, until our classes are full.

Will NFPS admit students into Grade 12?

We will admit students going into Grade 12. We will work with respective families to manage the academic workload, university applications, and co-curricular activities to make it easier for new students to transition smoothly in their last year of high school.

Will students be able to bring their own lunch to school?

Students will have the option of buying their lunch from the cafeteria or bringing in the lunch from home.

Will transportation be available?

Transportation for our students living within the busing boundary will be outsourced to a local company, specializing in school students’ transportation.

How can parents be involved?

Parent involvement will be encouraged; and we plan to establish a parent’s advisory council.

What other costs can I expect?

Our tuition fees are noted on the fee schedule. Other extra costs include the infrastructure fee, uniform, personal laptop, busing fee, travel costs for overnight trips, and lunch (if required).

I’ve noticed that some families make donations to NFPS. Why is this support necessary, and what is the average gift?

NFPS’s tuition fees will only partially cover our classroom and operating costs. In addition, any enhancements to our programs and activities will be possible through the vision and support of our donors. As a donor, you will have the satisfaction of knowing you have made a positive difference in the lives of our students. You will be recognized on our Donor Walls. The amount is entirely your choice, but we do advise families to consider an annual donation of $1,000. For more information, please visit the Support section on our website.
